Subscribe to the 4Smicrowave Discussion List by filling out the following form:

Regarding your email address: we strongly suggest you use the same email address here that you usually send email from. Use of an alias or forwarding address here means you will only be able to send messages to the discussion list (reflector) from that address, which is usually what you don't want! Examples of alias/forwarding addresses include arrl.net or special email addresses you install for list reception. Contact list administrator for cases where you might wish to post messages from multiple addresses, for example both your home and work email addresses.

You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options.

Otherwise, you'll not get the email confirmation request and your subscription

Troubles Subscribing to the List?

Here's a short writeup outlining the steps that happen when subscribing to the discussion list:

1. New subscriber fills out form (above) with email address and desired password, clicks on "subscribe" with web browser.

2. There will appear a web page with a short acknowledgment.

3. The new subscriber should, usually within a few minutes, receive an EMAIL to his subscription address asking him to CONFIRM the request. To do so, new subscriber may click on "Reply" in most email programs or use a link supplied for his web browser. We highly recommend using the web link as it has proved more reliable. So, using web browser, go to the URL link given in that email message.

4. Assuming the web browser and link is used, user will see a short confirmation page appear with his email address and "name". Please leave the name field as your ham call, despite the wording asking for real name. Carefully select the correct button to click on. Another web page will appear mentioning the approval process.

5. At this point, the list administrator will be notified of the subscription request via email and he will then either approve or reject the request. There may be some delay (hours to a day or so) at this point as it requires human action.

6. Assuming the administrator approved the request in #5 above, the new subscriber will receive an EMAIL welcoming him to the list and reiterating his password along with other instructions. At this point, he is finally a list member!

If you do not get to the final acceptance in #6 above, the largest reason is the confirmation request may have gotten trapped in some spam filtering done on your email. Check for this. If troubles along the way, please email the list administrator directly for help describing the steps taken and include any results. All these steps are taken to insure a spam-free list and to make sure those subscribed really wanted to be subscribed.
